Large and rapidly expanding, the suburb of Kanata is well-known for its high-tech corporate parks as well as the Canadian Tire Centre arena, which is home to the professional hockey club the Ottawa Senators. The open-air Kanata Centrum Retail Centre and the Tanger Outlets mall are just two of the many large shopping centres that can be found in this area. There are a number of smaller parks and playgrounds scattered across the region, in addition to the enormous South March Highlands Conservation Forest, which features hiking routes and mountain bike paths.

Kanata, sometimes spelled Kanata, is a prominent suburb of Ottawa, the capital of Canada, located in the province of Ontario. It is approximately 22 kilometres (14 miles) to the west of the central business district of the city. As of the year 2016, the population of Kanata was 98,938, with 137,118 people living in the population centre. This number is expected to continue to rise. Before it was merged into Ottawa in 2001, it was one of the cities in Canada with the highest rate of population growth and the municipality in Eastern Ontario with the highest rate of population growth. It is one of the largest of a number of neighbourhoods that encircle central Ottawa, and its location just to the west of the National Capital Commission Greenbelt makes it one of the most convenient.
