Beacon Hill Area in Ottawa Ontario
Beacon Hill is a neighbourhood in the Beacon Hill-Cyrville Ward in the east end of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Beacon Hill is located in the Beacon Hill-Cyrville Ward. Before the city of Gloucester was merged into the new city of Ottawa in 2001, Beacon Hill was a neighbourhood within the city of Gloucester.
The majority of Beacon Hill was developed as a residential neighbourhood throughout the 1960s and 1970s. Beacon Hill North and Beacon Hill South are its constituent portions, with Montreal Road serving as the divider between the two. It encompasses the Lester B. Pearson Catholic High School, the Colonel By Secondary School, and the Gloucester High School. The sewage treatment plant is named after Robert O. Pickard. According to the Beacon Hill Community Association, the neighbourhood is bounded on the east by the Greenbelt, which includes the Green’s Creek ravine, on the south by Highway 174, and on the west by Blair Road (south of Montreal Road) and Rothwell Heights. All of these features can be found to the neighborhood’s east, south, and west, respectively (north of Montreal Road).
According to the results of the 2016 census conducted in Canada, the overall population of Beacon Hill was 17,496. The population of Beacon Hill North was 9,177, while the population of Beacon Hill South was 8,319.
